We went all out with our artwork design for Space Trails. Beautiful images of space, as captured by the Hubble telescope, creatively edited and transformed to become something new. Space Trails is The Imperfections' first true record. They have produced for others and released different solo efforts but this is the first time they have created a record all their own. Ever the maniacal philosophers, The Imperfections set out to make a concept record, set in the future, in space, long after what we call home has disappeared into the annals of time.

There are two sides to this record in more ways than one. First and foremost, you have the physical division between the songs and the instrumentals. The dynamic production on the record is spotlighted due to its strength, which also caters to modern tastes and the return in popularity of the dynamic instrumental.

Secondly, a thematic division. The outward themes are apparent: space, discovery, futuristic travels and the alien. These are playful and valuable subjects for art, be it literature or music. However, the subtext, like with many works of science-fiction, deals with isolation, modern advancements driving wedges between us and the fate of our world if we continue on the same path we are on now; the idea that humans are on an Icarus-like journey that must inevitably come to a finish.

Rather than duplicating tried and derivative music, The Imperfections prefer to
push the boundaries and own whatever comes. Funk, Hip-Hop, R'n'B, EDM and Rock elements all blend into the music of Space Trails. Unlike much before it, this album bears noting.
